New Resident: Info on area appreciated 7 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hi
my name is Michelle and as of Monday my family and I will be Rolleystone residents. I am a childcare centre manager and my husband Ian works at Austral Brick as an electrician.
Need to know any do's and don'ts for the area, clubs activities, good restaurant and where is the best pub

Many Thanks

Mishmosh

Hi Mishmosh,

Welcome to Roleystone. Hope you like it.

For Clubs - there are lots to choose from (see phone numbers under Community Contacts)...
*Junior Footy Club www.rjfc.org.au
*TeeBall and Baseball www.rtbc.org.au
*Roleystone Music Club www.rmcwa.com.au
*Cricket - Senior and Junior
*Roleystone Country Club (Bowls - young and old)
*RoleybushCare www.roleybushcare.com
*Organic Growers
*Volunteer Fire Brigade
to name a few

There is the Roleystone Family Learning Centre on Wygonda Road www.roleyfamilycentre.com.au that has a play group for younger kids plus courses for young and old. Also there is lots of information on their notice boards.

For Pubs and watering-holes we have
*Roleystone Country Club (Wygonda Road)
*The Rock Inne (Brookton Hwy)
*Araluen Golf Club
*The Elizabethan Village Tavern (Bedfordale - Canns Road)

And there is so much more - maybe someone else can add to this list.

For Restaurants check out...
* Roleys on the Ridge (Brookton/Soldiers Rd)
* Arulean Golf (Country) Club
* The Grape (Brookton/Soldiers Rd)
* Elizabethan Village Tavern (food every day)
* Roleystone Country Club (forget which nights they do food).

I was at the Golf Club the other day - they have a new Chief and the food and service was excellent and under $20. Worth checking out. We were there Sat lunch. Not sure of their opening times.

Also the Golf club does a social membership for $220/year the gets you access to the Pool, Tennis courts and 10% off the meals.

There is also a Vegetarian Restaurant on Croyden road on the way the Araluen Botanical Gardens. I forget the name - somebody help?

Check out the Roasted Bean at the Roleyshops for a Cafe. My favorite at the mo is the Chicken club

Hello and good luck with your move!
I think Chris has covered most of it
We have 2 local magazines that come out once a month that is a wealth of information on what is going on in and around Roleystone, The Courier and The Valley Reporter, these are delivered to your letterbox
You can pick up copies from the local shops when they come out too.

Do you have kids?

Really good info to get us up and running. My kids are 15 & 19 so not so small & always wanting money.
I really fancy taking up golf or lawn bowls, so hope the clubs are up for a complete novice maybe get some lessons!
May meet on our travels, thanks for the warm welcome.
