Everyone please be advised that there as been several outbreaks of hand foot and mouth disease in the Roleystone/Kelmscott area. It is advised that daycare/creche and indoor play centres are to be avoided where ever possible.

Symptoms to look out for

Fever
Irritability
Red spots around palms of hands, soles of feet and mouth
Red spots around the bottom and legs

Unfortunatley no prescription medicine is required for HF&M all you can do is keep your child as comfortable as possibe, increase fluid intake and keep fever down with panadol and neurofen.

In addition to HF&M there has 2 been cases of Impetigo (similiar symptoms) but it is highly contagious in this instance you can get a script from your doctor for a cream to apply to the spots.

#1 RoleystoneCourier 2010-09-10 00:19 Oh Julie this made me laugh - I thought you were letting us now that Foot and Mouth had broken out across Roleystone! So I did a real double take. Then I was taken aback when I saw it was occuring in our children.
So not that the ailments you are referring to are not really serious but I am quite relieved that our total agricultural industry is not under threat. Silly me!!!
